The Quiet Rhythm of Wheel Throwing

Centering clay on the wheel is a practice in patience, touch, and learning to work with the material.

Wheel throwing looks fluid from the outside, but every form begins with preparation and concentration. The clay must be wedged, centered, opened, and raised through a sequence of small, controlled movements.

Some pieces arrive quickly; others ask to be started again. That repetition is part of the pleasure. With each attempt, the hands learn how much pressure to use and when to let the clay lead.

Tarti Studio hopes to share more of this process through future studio sessions in Tirana. Workshop news and availability will be announced through the journal and studio updates.
